Certified translations are often mandatory for official documents which have to be submitted to Austrian authorities or public institutions.

The different types of certified translations
A distinction can be made between different types of certified translations when translating for public authorities:
- Direct translation: In this case, the document is translated directly into the target language. For the translation to be legally valid, the translator in question must be sworn in for both languages.
- Indirect translation: Here the translation is produced via an intermediate language. For example, the English document is first translated into German before being translated into the target language Russian.
- Translation with supplementary legalisation: Schweickhardt Das Übersetzungsbüro takes the certified translation straight to the appropriate office. This is usually a court or administrative office. There the translation is legalised by being signed/certified once more.
